Take a break from your coursework and research with our leisure reading collection – available to anyone with an active library account. On the second floor of Library West you’ll find the Recreational Reading Area, which includes fun and interesting books that we have chosen from a wide variety of genres, including drama, fantasy, horror, mystery, romance, as well as manga and cookbooks.

How do I find and borrow a book?
Click through the links below to find a title you like and to see whether or not it is available. You may also browse the collection in person: novels are shelved alphabetically by the author’s last name, while manga and cookbooks are shelved by Library of Congress call number. New items are added to the collection regularly to replace less popular items.
How many items can I borrow?
You can check out up to 10 items at a time from this area. This total includes novels, manga, novels, cookbooks combined.
How long can I keep them?
Items can be borrowed for three weeks (21 days). You can renew a book once if no one else is waiting for it.
What if the item I want is already checked out?
We currently have one copy of each book, but you can place a hold on items that are checked out. When the item is returned, it will be held for you at the 2nd Floor Circulation Desk, and you’ll receive an email notification letting you know it’s ready for pickup.
Where do I take a book to borrow it?
If you find a book you would like to take home, bring it to the Circulation Desk or use the self check-out machine, also at the Circ Desk, If you are reading a book in the library and don’t want to take it borrow it to take it home, place it on one of the reshelving carts or shelves.
Where do I return items?
You can return books to any of these locations: the 2nd Floor Circulation Desk, the book-drop at the Circulation Desk, or the outside book-drop on the east side of the building,
Are there late fines?
Yes. Items returned late are charged $0.25 per day overdue. You will also pay replacement fees for items you do not return, as outlined on the Libraries’ Borrowing Policies page.
