What kind of things can we help with?

Library West provides students, researchers, and instructors with individualized research assistance for class assignments, academic publications, and other projects.

  • Narrowing the scope of research
  • Providing citation support
  • Developing search terms and strategies
  • Locating books and peer-reviewed journal articles
  • Locating subject-specific databases and resources (freely available and subscription-based)
  • Locating primary sources
  • And so much more…

General Research Help

Research assistance appointments can be booked for 15, 30, or 60 minutes, depending on the complexity of the research need, and patrons can choose between meeting in person at Library West or virtually over Zoom. A confirmation email will be sent upon booking.

Patrons have the option to select to meet with the librarian whose subject expertise best aligns with their major, or can select “no preference” to be assigned the first available librarian.

Patrons whose major is not listed are welcome to select “no preference” or to schedule an appointment with any of the subject librarians—we are all happy to help!
